Pledge Donation Program

Did you know that pledges raised by Race participants account for half our total revenue for the Race?    If every participant raised at least $100 in pledges, we would reach a half million dollars in pledges alone.    Make an impact today!

NEW THIS YEAR:

The Komen Maine Race is trying out a new fundraising incentive program.  Participants who raise $250, $500, $750, $1,000 and more will have their choice of name brand merchandise as our thank you for collecting pledges.   The more you raise, the better the prize... everything from tote bags to televisions!    The incentive program will close two weeks from the Race date, on October 4th.

Check out the link below to view prize offerings or redeem your certificate.

Certificates will be mailed automatically within one month of the Race.

Certificate levels are based on the online fundraising (minus the registration fee) and/or the offline (cash or check) donations received with a properly filled pledge sheet.    Due to the high volume of donations received, the Race is not responsible for the proper designation of offline donations that were turned in without the completed pledge sheet.

Race Incentive Prize Site

Online Donations

Online donations and fundraising is now available. This can be a fun and easy way to solicit donations from friends and family. These pages are very versatile - you can customize the look of the page, email potential donors directly from the site and track donations made in your name. All donations made through your webpage are tracked so you get "credit" for those donations for fundraising prizes! It's a lot of fun!   Plus, if you are a team member, all your donations count toward the team total and appear on the team site as well.

Mail-In Pledge Donations

It is the responsibility of the Race participant to collect pledge donations and turn them in at one time. Donors mailing checks separately will not be counted toward the Pledge for Prizes program for that participant, even if the participant's name is included with the donation. If donors would like to make an independent donation and have a receipt, the best option is for them to donate online under the participant's personal fundraising page.

Checks should be written out to Komen Maine Race and mailed to:

PO Box 1626, Bangor, ME 04402-1626

Our 2009 Race Brochure will have a Pledge Form. If you won't receive a brochure or would like to start early, download a Pledge Form

Tax Deduction Information

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Maine Affiliate is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Race registration fees are not tax deductible, but donations are. Starting in tax year 2007, the IRS will require proof of donations, regardless of the amount. All online donations will automatically receive receipts, so we highly recommend that you use this avenue for fundraising. Individual pledges/donations of over $250, submitted by mail or in person, will be given a receipt. For pledges/donations under $250, a cancelled check serves as a receipt. Please do not accept cash pledges if the donor wants to deduct the donation.
