WE ARE MAKING THE DIFFERENCE IN FINDING A CURE FOR BREAST CANCER

Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is the world's largest, boldest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists, the only organization fighting to cure breast cancer at every stage. To date, $1 billion has been raised for research, education and health services. And because so many millions of people are counting on us to fulfill our promise, Susan G. Komen for the Cure will invest an additional $2 billion over the next decade to do just that.

The Maine Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to announce grants awarded for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Grants awarded during our 11 year history as an affiliate totals more than $1.3 million.

National Research Grants, the Maine Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure provides grant funding to Maine communities. In order to ensure we are funding programs that address the specific unmet breast health needs of our communities, we work with local medical experts and community leaders to conduct comprehensive community needs assessments. These community profiles are then used to establish local grant application and review processes consistent with Komen's standards and mission. For the fiscal year 2007-2008, we are proud to report that we granted $261,731 taking contributions during our 10 year history over $1.1 million.2008-2009 Grantees Selected
