BREAKING NEWS!

The Maine Affilate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will be bringing its signature event, the Komen Race for the Cure, to Portland, starting in September of 2010. The Portland Race will happen concurrently with the Bangor Race, making this a truly statewide effort.  

The Bangor Race, now in its thirteenth year, is the largest 5K run/walk in the State of Maine, drawing more than 4,600 participants and raising over $269,000 for the Komen Maine Affiliate in 2008. The Race has broken attendance and revenue records its last three years, but the key to future growth for this event will be making it accessible to the people of southern Maine.  We have received numerous requests over the years from those wanting to start or participate in a Portland Race for the Cure event. We are thrilled to be able to deliver this opportunity in 2010.

A call for Volunteers

The Komen Maine Affiliate has already begun assembling a Portland Race for the Cure Committee. Anyone interested in volunteering year-round for this event can download a volunteer form and send it in.

NEW THIS YEAR:  

The Komen Maine Race is trying out a new fundraising incentive program.  Participants who raise $250, $500, $750, $1,000 and more will have their choice of name brand merchandise as our thank you for collecting pledges.   The more you raise, the better the prize... everything from tote bags to televisions!  Plus, top fundraisers will have cool prizes for raising the most, including airline tickets, getaway weekend packages and evening out packages.    So get out there early and often, online or at work, but collect those pledges!
